Two months, Hot Springs and Halloween
I love October for many reasons, but perhaps the greatest reason is the annual trip Brent and I make to Hot Springs for the documentary film festival. Brent and I went to Hot Springs on our honeymoon seven years ago--a fact that we make fun of ourselves about--and on that trip we watched a film and learned about the festival. Since then we have gone every year, and this year marks our eighth time to go. Although we didn't know how the trip might change with Harper in tow, we knew this sacred tradition could not be interrupted.

Harper has now transitioned to her own crib. She seems so tiny in the big space! It made me a little sad for her not to be in our room anymore at night, but she's doing great!

We saw two documentaries (instead of our typical 15 or so), ate at some amazing restaurants, went shopping and took a long hike. Harper was a pro traveler! She slept well in the car and in the hotel and mostly slept soundly through the documentaries.

Our favorite documentary of the two we viewed was called "The Best Worst Movie." It's about the arguably "worst" movie ever made back in 1989 called "Troll 2." For example, "Troll 2" bears no relation whatsoever to "Troll 1" and does not even have trolls in the movie (but rather goblins)!
However, it is such a bad movie that it has developed a cult following in pockets all over the world. The documentary tracked down the actors from the movie, now 20 years later, and examined the cult following phenomenon. After seeing many glimpses of "Troll 2" from the documentary, Brent and I were convinced we had to rent this jewel of a movie and perhaps throw a "Troll 2" party of our own someday.

In other news, Harper is now two months old and is doing great! She has made a recent attachment...her "seahorse friend," as we like to call him. This little guy (which is nearly as big as she is) lights up and plays slow lullabies along with bubble sounds--she loves it! It helps soothe her to sleep and motivates her to do tummy time. I might be buying this as a shower gift for people in the future because it's been such an unexpected, hilarious hit!

And finally here are some pics from Harper's Halloween costumes--a little pumpkin suit and someone also gave her a cute little strawberry outfit. Our church small group had a Halloween party, and it was very fun to see all the kids dressed up!
