Three Months Old and Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year with a visit to the pumpkin patch, a Trunk-or-Treat with friends and Trick-or-Treating.  Plus Owen is now three months old!  Enjoy the pics!

At the pumpkin patch

Owen had been resting peacefully in the stroller prior to this picture.  He said, "Was this really necessary, Mommy?"

Sweet Harper

We carved a pumpkin for the first time this year and roasted the seeds.

Harper was not sure about sticking her hand into the goo, but she relented with the promise of a chocolate chip.

The finished product!  It's a puppy, if you can't tell.  Carving a pumpkin was harder than we thought!

Harper had a little fall party at her school so we all joined her.  There was pumpkin and cookie decorating and story time.

Unbeknownst to us, Harper was the prayer leader in her class for the week.  So in front of all the kids and parents, her teacher asked her to lead a prayer at the party.  Taken off guard, Brent and I looked at each other, wondering how Harper would respond in front of all those people.  I was so proud when she confidently led a sweet little prayer.

Harper got this note sent home in her folder that week.

For Halloween this year, Harper was a flamenco dancer.  My mom went to Spain last year on a school trip and brought this little dress and fan back for Harper.  She loved wearing it!

Stopping to share a sucker with Lydia at the Trunk-or-Treat. When asked what Harper was for Halloween, Lydia said Harper was "a flamingo that dances."  Love it! :)

Beautiful Ryleigh!

For Halloween we got together with three other families, which has become a very fun Halloween tradition.  Harper had her Halloween etiquette down better this year (last year she would walk up to a house and say "more").  However, her greetings weren't quite in the correct order.  She greeted most houses with "thank you" and "Trick-or-Treat" often came later.  But she had a blast.  Some of the houses scared her a little this year, but mostly she was okay, and she enjoyed walking up to many houses holding hands with her friend Kate.  Before trick-or-treating, we always have to get a few pictures...

The trick-or-treating crew

Owen was a little pumpkin (passed down from Harper from her first Halloween).

Enjoying a good laugh!

The babies of the group--Owen and Claire--Owen is about one month older than Claire.

Jilinda with John David--what a cute puppy!

Patiently enduring a few more pictures before getting to the candy!

After trick-or-treating, we made s'mores in the fireplace...because a bucket load of candy was not enough sweets for one night. ;)

And Kamara made this pumpkin brownie, which is a tradition for the Tate family.  Yummy!

Happy Halloween!  Ha!

Brent and Harper had a fun time camping in the backyard together recently.  They read stories in the tent by flashlight and spent some time checking out the stars in their camping chairs.  It was a pretty warm November night, but Harper really wanted to wear her coziest pajamas!

The campers also roasted hot dogs for dinner and ate them outside.
The next day we all played in the tent, including Owen. :)

And now for some recent Owen shots...

Striking a pose for his three month picture! :)

You could never tell from this happy smile that Owen was actually on the verge of getting sick the next day. :( Poor baby...but we are hopefully on the mend with some antibiotics.  At three months Owen...

...has graduated to wearing cloth diapers now for the most part...

...is growing a tiny bit more fuzz on his head...

...bestows us with many adorable smiles...

...likes to look at books with Mommy and Daddy...

...has taken to a pacifier, although he has been getting his thumb in his mouth more and more recently...

... and is mesmerized with Harper, and Harper continues to dote on him endlessly.

But three-month-olds are never too old to snuggle up for a little nap with Daddy.

We love our silly monkey!

Finally, here is a video Brent took of Halloween night...enjoy!
