Eight Months and Family Fun

Things have been busy and fun lately with Harper turning eight months old (today, in fact!) and lots of time spent with family and friends this past weekend. These days Harper is brimming with smiles and personality and loves saying "da-da" now as well as "ma-ma." I feel like her head is always whipping around or craning to see things because she just doesn't want to miss out on anything. In my biased "mama's opinion," she's just a little doll. Here are a few pics of Harper in the last couple of weeks...

I took some pictures of Harper in a field of bluebonnets by our house. It was a challenge to get her to tear her eyes away from the flowers to look at me. She not only wanted to look at the bluebonnets, but also eat them!

I am pretty sure Harper is in the act of eating our state flower here...oops!

After the bluebonnets, Harper woke up from her nap with a legitimate case of bed head! Granted it's a mohawk because we're still a little sparse on the sides, but the girl is finally getting some real hair! :)

I like this picture because it looks like Harper is doing some kind of graceful ballet move.

The momentous first passport! Harper is now ready to travel...hopefully to Canada this summer.

I believe we are going to have a crawler on our hands in the next few weeks or days! She can navigate a room by rolling and scooting. So far, it is only in reverse, and this often gets Harper trapped under all kinds of furniture. Below are some examples of her handiwork.

"Look at me, Mom and Dad!" She managed to scoot backwards all the way under her crib!

"Now how do I get out?"

And here she is under the living room chair :)

Previously I had posted about our good friends Rod and Kamara and their baby girl Ryleigh born at 24 weeks. I can't believe it has been eight weeks since her birth, and she now weighs four pounds and is doing very well. Praise God! Lots of friends, plus family members of Rod and Kamara, walked this weekend in the March of Dimes "March for Babies." We were a part of team "Race for Ryleigh Grace." What an awesome thing to get to be a part of, and a big thanks to Robbie and Kristen Hudson for organizing the event and getting our t-shirts designed--we won the t-shirt design contest, and we were able to keep track of each other in our lime green.

Little racer, Lydia, simply couldn't hang on any longer!

And here we are ready to support Ryleigh!

This past weekend was non-stop quality time with family. Brent's sister Amy and her husband and four kids traveled all the way from Tennessee for a visit. The main reason for the visit was because Brent's grandma was turning 85, and we had a birthday party in her honor. However, it happened to work out that Harper was participating in the baby dedication at church so we were very thrilled that they got to be there for that as well. We had fun going to the park, feeding ducks, playing video games, eating pancakes, burgers, lasagna and more (not all at once). We only wish we got to see Amy and her sweet family more!

Here is Brent's grandma Crickett at her 85th birthday party.

Brent's sister Amy--this was her first day to meet Harper

Our Tennessee nieces and nephews--Eve, Isaac, Faith and Eli--they are great kids!

Faith and Eve were so good with Harper! Harper really loved her cousins.

Beth and Jarod were so sweet to come from Ft. Worth for the baby dedication and then brunch at our house afterwards.

And finally one more shot of Harper with her number 8 on. Happy eight months, baby girl!
