Leading up to Christmas
We've been staying busy these last few weeks leading up to Christmas! This post is a little random and disjointed, but here is a glimpse into what we have been up to lately. :)
And here is a little video clip of Harper with the bubbles:
Untitled from Brent Hughes on Vimeo.
It was so great to get to see my dear friend Kate and her boys a couple of weeks ago. Kate has been one of my best friends since middle school, and we thoroughly enjoyed her little visit. We attempted (as you will see, "attempt" is the key word) to get a picture of Harper, Everett and Jackson in front of the Christmas tree.
Oh dear
So Kate and I did a shot with no kids. :) Oh well!
For a recent date night, Brent had the idea for us to experience a traditional Swedish feast at IKEA called a Julebord. I have to admit, my excitement didn't quite match Brent's. I was a little apprehensive about the various fish dishes that would be present at this feast. But I went along with it, and it turned out to be way more fun than I expected!
We were serenaded by a Swedish choir while we ate.
It was an all-you-can-eat, sold-out buffet. Here is a picture of plate #1.
I didn't love everything on the menu, but there were definitely some delicious European morsels.
Since September, I have been training for my first ever 5K with my friend Jilinda. I really don't consider myself a runner, but training for an actual race and running with a partner made all the difference. I'm really proud that we stuck to it and ran the race and have the t-shirts to prove it!
Jilinda and I before the race--it was a cold, windy December morning.
At the starting line! The excitement was contagious!
Yet another idea of Brent's was to check out the hot air balloon event in the downtown square one Saturday night.
Harper was mesmerized by the balloons.
As it got darker, the balloons looked awesome lit up against the night sky.
And with December came the end of Harper and Marin's first semester of "school" together! It definitely called for some photos, and you can already see how much the girls have grown since the first day of school.
Sweet Marin giving Harper a hug
So, so sweet!
And here is the first day of school picture for comparison.
And finally, here is Harper's picture with Santa this year. She was a little unsure (as to be expected) and was actually in the process of saying "down" when this photo was snapped. Our little blondie was very brave until the very end, and then she decided she had had enough of this strange man! Daddy came and rescued her!
Have a merry Christmas, everyone! :)
