Seven months is such a fun age in my opinion! Owen is interactive and curious but still not mobile (for the most part). He is happy most of the time! If I smile at him, he frequently smiles back his big gummy grin, and it is so rewarding. I just love his sweet little face. Below are some pictures from Owen's seventh month, as well as some other recent happenings...
| Yes, we have bid farewell to the magic sleep suit...but it will always hold a special place in our memories of Owen's development! :) Now Owen sleeps in a cozy sleep sack. Without the magic suit restricting his movements, Owen now chooses to turn over and sleep on his stomach most of the time. You might be able to tell in the picture that Owen is sucking on his index finger in his sleep, which is what he does! |
| Sweetest little clasped hands |
| I wouldn't say that Owen is mobile yet, but he is getting up on his knees and scooting backwards. Therefore, he ends up half-under all the furniture! :) You can also see the toys under the crib. That is Harper's doing. With the crib at the highest setting still, there is plenty of room under there. Harper likes to play toys in there and calls it "the tent." |
| Some "tent time" one weekday morning, still in pajamas |
| First time to swing! After getting used to it, he began bouncing around with the biggest smile...clearly a fan! |
Owen is also babbling up a storm. Another reason why this age is so fun! Here is a video clip of Owen doing the "B" sound. He does several other consonants too, as well as some terrific growling sounds! :)

Just lounging in his chair watching Harper play after finishing up a bite to eat...Owen is really enjoying his vegetables now! We tried straight up pear recently and that was met with crazy faces, and he let it all fall back out of his mouth. So we are working on fruits mixed in with cereal to ease in the flavors. Something unusual we have discovered is that Owen seems to be intolerant of sweet potato. He has thrown up twice now on separate occasions after eating it! And then he is fine and can nurse or eat other foods with no problem. We called the doctor, and she said to wait and try it again in two or three months...poor baby! :(
Owen is also loving puffs and can pick them up and get them in his mouth on occasion. Then we will find puffs on the floor, in his chair, and soggy ones clinging to the palm of his hand. |

| I just love how Owen watches Harper. I wonder what is going through his young mind?? |

Harper had pajama day at her preschool and got to take a stuffed animal to school for a pet parade.
Something very bittersweet that took place recently was our good friends Krister and Tobin moved away. We are happy for the job opportunity this afforded Krister, but we are SO sad to have them live far away now. Luckily, they live in the same city as Brent's sister so we are already planning a visit this summer. Naturally, we tried to squeeze in some hangout times before they left, including the zoo! |

| Marin and Harper studying the cheetah |
| Marin pretending to be a fierce animal..."Grrrrr!" |
| Giraffes are pretty fun...but so is looking at Mommy! :) |
| I will always be thankful for sweet Marin being Harper's first best friend... |
| In February, Nana had a birthday, and I made strawberry cream cupcakes. |
| Look who got a little hair cut! :) |
| Getting preeetty skilled at hopscotch! :) Pig tails a flyin'! |
| What fun to get to meet up with my three best friends from middle school (and beyond) at Chick-fil-A recently! Here is Wendy holding Owen... |
| Owen looking a little mischievous with Kate and Brenda |
| All the kiddos (minus Owen)...It warmed my heart so to see our kids interacting and having fun together! |
For Spring Break this year, we took a little road trip to Houston to visit our good friends Jeff and Lisa, as well as their kids Davis and Norah. This is another set of friends that recently moved away, and we miss them. (Stop moving away, friends!!) We had fun taking a picnic lunch to a park, playing outside in the backyard, sharing home cooked dinners together (thank you, Lisa!) and eating breakfast at Hubbell & Hudson.
| Norah and Jeff whizzing down the slide together |
| Davis climbing the big spider web (Harper was not as interested) |
| Norah also climbing the spider web with a little help from Lisa! |
| Owen enjoyed the park as well! |
| We brought a frisbee along, and Davis caught on quickly! |
| Taking a break in the grass... |
| ...before playing a lively game of tag! |
| One game played over this visit was pretending to be "sea monsters." I don't get it, but it made them laugh! |
| Kisses for Owen! |
At the end of Spring Break, we spent a couple of days at Mimi and T-Pa's house...
| My grandmother on my mom's side was full Irish, so our two have at least 1/8 Irish in them. Had to deck them out for St. Patrick's Day! :) |
| Harper not as much, but Owen definitely has a pale Irish complexion! :) We will be smearing the sunscreen on this one! |
| Cutie pie |
We went to Klyde Warren Park in Dallas with Brent's folks, as well as Beth, Jarod and Molly. This is a nice green space with a splash park, playground, and food trucks every day. In addition to playing, we ate a Subway picnic lunch in the park.
| On this day, there were also craft tables set up and kids were contributing to a cityscape creation. Harper loved working on it with Brent! |
| Owen and Aunt Beth...as you can see from Owen's cheeks (poor baby gets red cheeks when he is even a little hot), it was a beautiful but WARM day! |
| Mimi feeding Molly a bottle |
| Owen and Molly saying "Hi!" |
| We hadn't prepared for a splash park, but we let Harper play in it even in her jeans. She had so much fun. We had to strip her down to her underwear before getting in the car, but luckily we had more clothes to change into since we had overnight bags packed. |
| Owen crashed while Harper played in the splash park. |
| Owen and Molly had some blanket time! |
| Fun times with the fam...back home--dried off and cooled off with a sleeping baby girl |
| We ate our brisket dinner outside. It was very nice and relaxing until Harper fell backwards in her chair, but she was unharmed luckily! |
| I had to drive out of town for the day this week, and Mimi was so sweet to come to our house and babysit eight hours straight! Harper had preschool that day, so she mostly had some fun times with this little guy... |
...but she also got to spend an hour and a half with Harper before I got home. They played dress up together. Thankyou, Kathy! And also a thank you to my friend Jilinda for bringing Harper home from school!
Finally, here is one more video that makes me happy. It is an example of how almost anything Harper does can make Owen laugh. He thinks she hung the moon! |
