For Owen's first birthday in August, we had a small, baseball themed, family birthday party. I must admit that part of the reason I chose a baseball theme was because I am not an experienced cake decorator, but I knew I could manage white icing with two lines of red baseball stitching! :) Plus the Rangers were in season, and Owen loves balls. Since Harper and Owen have birthdays only two weeks apart, we had originally contemplated having them share a birthday party. But as the time got closer, I just couldn't do it!!! I really wanted Owen to have a party solely dedicated to him for this very special milestone year. So two parties we had, and this sentimental mommy is glad we did. It was a very fun day celebrating our precious boy, surrounded by family members that love him.

| While moseying around Hobby Lobby getting a few things for the party, I saw these white paper lanterns and had this idea! Party helpers Ricky and Kim spent time drawing the red stitching on with marker before the party and hanging them. My family always does this--just jumps in and helps in whatever needs to be done. This is one way we show each other love, and it means so much. |

| The baseball cake! This was my first time to try to make a double layer cake. I like to cook, but I don't do a whole lot of baking (cupcakes are more my speed). I thought it turned out well, and I was pleased with the raspberry baseball stitching (Bren't idea). |
