To the Zoo!
During the month of November, we were able to make not one, but two trips to the zoo! Our first trip was with Tobin, Marin and Parker to the Dallas Zoo. They have a zoo membership this year and were sweet enough to get us in for free as well! Leading up to the trip, all Harper talked about was seeing monkeys, snakes and giraffes. Well, we checked off all items on her list!
The giraffes will eat lettuce out of your hands, but the set of giraffes out in the feeding pen that day were all shy and wouldn't approach us. Next time we will call ahead and make sure we go on an outgoing giraffe day! :) It was a fun day!

Harper's first carousel ride. She wasn't keen on sitting on an animal yet and chose the more conservative bench. :) Marin was sweet to go along.

Our next zoo trip was over the Thanksgiving break in Ft. Worth with Nana. I have always loved the Ft. Worth zoo, especially how close you can get to all the monkeys and gorillas.

Although there were some zebras just across the water, I believe Harper was more enthralled with the common ducks in the pond. She didn't really realize which animals were "exotic" and would get just as into a duck or a turtle.
You could feed the parakeets on these birdseed sticks. When Harper held it and a bird landed on the stick, she would get flustered and fling the stick to the ground. Perhaps she shares my love of birds. :) Large groups of birds freak me out.

Another fascination for Harper that day was this lizard statue. She was using it to prepare her for this...
...touching a real snake! We will have to teach Harper to be leery of snakes as she seems to like them and had no qualms about touching it.

Brent and Harper took a Daddy/daughter trip to the mall one Saturday. Brent said Harper watched the ice skaters FOREVER! Patient Daddy.
