A Big Announcement
We are so excited to announce here on the blog that we are expecting Hughes Baby #2 in early August! Another August baby...hopefully this summer won't be record breaking heat waves like last summer!
We are currently 17 weeks along and all is going well so far. Can't wait to find out if this little one is a boy or a girl, but I can honestly say I would feel excited either way! Things definitely happen faster the second time around, and I felt like I "popped" out, so to speak, so early on. :) But hey, so it goes. I felt pretty decent the first trimester, some definite nausea and tiredness, but able to function and keep up with a two-year-old, so that was a blessing.
This wasn't intended to be a "belly" shot or anything so it's not really at a show-it-off angle, but there is the tummy already out there. No messing around here.
You know, normally strangers are hesitant to ask pregnancy questions unless it is completely obvious that a woman is pregnant. The other night the cashier at the grocery store asked when I was due, and I was a little taken aback. I guess it's obvious. :)
I think she is going to be a great big (ahem, "older") sister!
Here is the big sister! :) Although for some reason, Harper doesn't like to be called "big" in any reference. If we call her a "big girl," she says, "No, I a little girl." And the same thing for sister. She will say, "No, I a little sister." So we might have to get creative in our terminology. :)

However, we will have to keep a close eye on our little helper. We borrowed this swing for future use from Brian and Jenevieve and for awhile (until we got it stored away), Harper wanted to put her baby doll in it. Then she would say, "Baby needs some toys."
For some reason, that always involved completely emptying out the desk drawer of all the office supplies. This picture only shows round 1 with a slew of colored pencils, but soon it became hole punch, tape dispenser, stapler, EVERYTHING...watch out little sibling! :)
Finally, it was so fun sharing the news with family and friends, and here is a video of us telling Brent's side of the family on Christmas day. We had framed a recent photo of Harper as well as an early sonogram photo for Brent's dad to open. I must say the reactions were so fun!
