It finally happened...
...Brent got his wish, and we are now full-fledged members of the cloth diaper world. Can you believe it? I still can't! This was always something my dear environmentalist (and frugal) husband wanted to do. I stalled and said, "Let's wait until Harper's on solid foods first." Then I managed to push it off until Brent would be home for the summer...then it had to wait until after our big road trip...you get the idea. Finally I ran out of excuses, and we have pulled the trigger!
We made an appointment with an Australian woman with a small storefront, and it was very helpful to get all our questions answered, get helpful tips and handle a number of different brands and types of cloth diapers. There are quite a lot of options out there! We settled on a couple of kinds that we thought would work best for our current and future needs, tried them out for a few days, and then got some more once we figured out which was our favorite. So we have been doing this for a couple of weeks now. As much as I hate to admit it, it's going pretty smoothly and hasn't been that bad of a transition at all.

Brent has volunteered to do all the washing of the diapers, and he has followed through with that beautifully! We have enough so that we do a diaper load every third night. I must admit that Harper looks pretty cute in her styling diaper duds and some of the covers are so soft that I just want to carry her around and pat her little bum. I refuse to be completely hard core about this, though, and Harper will be wearing disposables when we go to church or have babysitters, or I'm running errands for an extended period of time. I think we will find a balance that works for us so that Brent and I can both be happy. Here are a few photos of Harper modeling her new diapers!

And now just a few more pictures from the last couple of weeks...
Harper has become super attached to her puppy lovey. She has a special sound she makes when she asks for it, and she gets so happy when we hand it to her. This one might be following her to college.
I wanted to show off the height stick I made for Harper recently. I felt pretty handy going to the hardware store and asking them to cut me a piece of wood. I am going to put a picture of Harper beside each measurement we take of her on her birthday through the years.
